Merrimack students attend Interfaith Youth Initiative Summer Institute at Brandeis

Four Merrimack students are attending the new college track of IFYI Summer Institute 2011 at Brandeis University, thanks to scholarships from the College's Center for the Study of Jewish-Christian-Muslim Relations and a generous grant from the William and Mary Greve Foundation.

Chelsea Comfort, Anna Ndamba, Neha Patel and Mark Tiberi all arrived for registration on Sunday, July 10th.  Students live on the Brandeis campus for this 8-day immersion program run by Cooperative Metropolitan Ministries. Founded in 1966, CMM is the greater Boston area's oldest interfaith social justice network.  IFYI is a powerful and transformative experience for teens and college students. Together they will interpret and embody their own spiritual visions of justice and peace on the campus of Brandeis University, while living out Dr. Martin Luther King Jr’s "Beloved Community."

Follow Chelsea, Anna, Neha and Mark this week as they attend workshops on spiritual practices, interfaith identity, peacemaking & leadership skills; walk for justice, peace and the environment; and attend religious services of various faith traditions.  The leadership and dialogue skills they develop will enrich our campus when they return as students in the fall.
